Steamed pork rib is a Cantonese style dim sum dish that can be found in every dim sum restaurant.
The best kind of ribs to use are pork spare ribs or baby back ribs (小排骨). This cut of rib is tender with the right amount of fats. If in doubt, simply let your butcher at your local market know you are making steamed pork ribs and to cut them into small bite size pieces.

To me, a perfect steak should be gloriously brown and crusty on the outside and juicy in the centre. If you are a steak lover, forget about non-stick pans or stainless steel skillets. I highly recommend you investing in a cast-iron pan. It will change the way your steak looks and tastes.

Few years ago, I’ve shared a popular Taiwanese staple dish - Lu Rou Fan (Braised Pork Rice). I can’t remember how many times I’ve made this dish and every time, it never fails to hit the spot. Recently, I’ve been making Lu Rou Fan with the all-in-one multi cooker I’ve acquired. I’m loving the sauté and sauce thickening functions. Most traditional pressure cookers do not come with these functions hence, I find myself using the multi cooker more these days. Tough cuts of meat can be tenderized in minutes, it is perfect for stews, soups and rice.

Spaghetti Bolognese is one of our favorite weeknight dinners. I’ve made this dish countless times and every time without fail, our house always smells like a Trattoria in Italy.
Most traditional Bolognese recipes call for red wine but I chose to omit it since we might not always have that in our fridge. Honestly, I love it as it is.

So I decide to get in touch with my Hokkien roots and make some. But first, I have to do my own research. My late grandma did not have pass down any secret Ngoh Hiang recipe to me. Plus, there are two versions – Hokkien and Teochew Ngoh Hiang. Do you know what the difference between these two types is?

This Thai-Style Crispy Pork Belly is another mouth-watering favorite snack whenever I wander around the streets in Bangkok. Now, the mere thought of deep frying is enough to put off many health Nazis, not to mention the choice of cut used as well. However, since pork fat has made it to number 8 on the list of top 100 nutritious food and we are using good quality cooking oil, making this dish at home seems to lessen my guilt on eating this intensely crispy and meltingly tender meat. Of course, in a healthy diet, all foods are okay in moderation. Pair it with a serving of refreshing salad or vegetables that are low in calories and all will be well.
