Recipe type: Drinks
Cuisine: Western
Serves: 2 cups
  • 1 cup (250 ml) fresh milk
  • 2 oz. (60 g) bittersweet chocolate - chopped (or semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar (optional if using milk chocolate)
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  1. In a saucepan on a medium heat, add the milk and sugar and heat gently until you see tiny bubbles on the side. Do not overheat or boil the milk as your hot chocolate will become grainy.
  2. While the milk is warming up, melt the chopped chocolate in a microwave (in 30 secs interval) until just melted.
  3. Turn off heat and add the melted chocolate, vanilla extract into the warm milk and stir well. Pour into a cup and enjoy. Top with marshmallows or whipped cream if desire.
