Strawberry Sunrise Fizz

A cool, refreshing strawberry orange fizz, perfect for outdoor BBQs or food parties!
Recipe type: Drinks
Serves: 3 tall glasses
  • For strawberry syrup -
  • Fresh strawberries – 1 8 oz. box (250 g), washed and hulled
  • ½ cup white sugar (more or less, depending on the sweetness of the berries)
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • For the drink -
  • Orange juice
  • Sparkling water / soda water
  • 4 – 6 tbsp strawberry syrup
  • Some ice cubes
  • 1 lime - cut into thin wedges (to garnish)
  1. Strawberry Syrup:
  2. Using a food processor, blend and strain the strawberries. You will have roughly 2 cups of thick strawberry pulp.
  3. In a saucepan, add the strawberry pulp, sugar, water and lime juice and bring to a gentle boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 mins until thicken and coats the back of a spoon. You should be left with roughly 1 cup.
  4. Let it cool before storing in a glass container/jar. Refrigerate until needed.
  5. To make a drink:
  6. Start by filling a tall glass with crushed ice or small ice cubes.
  7. Then add equal amount of the sparkling water and orange juice.
  8. Drizzle 1-2 tbsp of strawberry syrup on top and wait for it to sink to the bottom. Garnish with a thin wedge of lime and serve immediately.
  9. Note: Add a shot of tequila or vodka for alcoholic version.
