Mini Potato Cakes

Mini potato cake (or potato patty) is another of my childhood favorite snack and one of mom’s “western food” recipe. Coming from a typical Asian family, our staple meals were mainly Chinese food so you can imagine when mom made us pork chops, French fries, garlic bread etc, our greedy little mouths would clean up everything on the plate...

Mini Fruit Tarts

Recently over dinner, father-in-law requested for some mini fruit tarts the next day. I can’t help but to sweat a little. The last time I ate (not make) fruit tarts was like eons ago. They are basically short-crusted pastries filled with a light custard and topped with fresh fruits. I remember having them for quite a bit back when I was a kid. You see, FIL is an extremely amazing man with vast years of knowledge and with that, he has also acquired a very sharp and discerning palette...

Coconut Sorbet

This is probably one of the simplest ice cream I ever made. The texture is lighter than the usual custard based ice cream (thanks to the coconut water) and it is really a cross between a sorbet and ice cream. This recipe is perfect for newly acquired ice cream machine owners or novice ice cream makers.

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

Since the banana cake is such a hit in our household and I've lost track of how many times I made it, I felt I needed to switch things around before anyone gets sick of it. How else could I create this moist and decadent goodness into other varieties? Quick check with google and muffin came up to be on top of the list. To be honest, I’m not a big fan on muffins. They tend to be dense, buttery and I don’t know, just not my type of “cake”. When I made a test batch of these banana chocolate chip muffins, I wasn’t too hopeful...

Banana Mango Crumble (PS. Café)

Being an avid dessert lover, I’m surprised I did not come across this delicious combination sooner. I was catching up with one of my besties over dinner at PS. Café and was ready to throw in the white towel after stuffing ourselves with soups, truffle fries, pasta and pies, when she insisted we had to order this dessert. “Okay, just one bite” I told myself. Well, you could guess what happened after...

Nutella Banana Upside down Cake

An upside down cake is simply a cake turned over and served upside down. The base is lined with a layer of fruit (usually pineapples) covered in butter and sugar. In case you have leftover Nutella lying around at home (like me) and in the mood for baking, try making this Nutella Banana Upside down Cake, which is an upgraded version of butter cake. If you are not a fan of banana, feel free to replace with mango, pineapple, apple or whatever works for you...
