“Oh My Garlic Goodness!” Noodles

The hype of Louisiana-Style Cajun seafood restaurants serving fresh and hearty seafood has been sweeping our shores since a couple years back and one of my favorite restaurants has got to be Dancing Crab. The no-frills concept is pretty straight-forward. Choose the choice of seafood (crabs, prawns, mussels, etc), type of sauce (their signature sauce is really awesome) and the whole bag of seafood is emptied on your table. It’s all about getting those fingers dirty and working. Last heard, the laid-back American restaurant has already ventured into the shores of Jakarta and Tokyo, well done! Anyhow, today’s post is not about crabs. In fact, garlic noodles is one of my favorite side items to have...

Double-B Mac and Cheese

f you are a pasta and cheese lover, then today’s Double-B Mac and Cheese recipe is made for you! Any guesses what “Double-B” am I referring to? Netspeak for baby? Blackberry? Okay, I admit I’m kinda lame (sometimes). As testified by my family. “Double-B here means Bacon and Broccolini. Bacon just makes everything taste better and recently, I’ve been going town at broccolini. You would think they are baby broccoli but in fact, broccolini is hybrid of broccoli and kai-lan.

Pan Seared Gnocchi with Brown Butter and Sage

What is Gnocchi (pronounced nyo-kee)? For those who are unfamiliar with it, gnocchi is an Italian soft doughy dumpling made mainly from potato, flour and egg. To be honest, I wasn’t a big fan of gnocchi. The ones I had before were dense, floury and chewy. I genuinely thought they were supposed to taste that way and had written it off as another food on my do-not-eat list...

Simple No-Cook Penne Arrabbiata

What is Arrabbiata? For those who are not familiar with this word, “Arrabbiata” means “angry” in Italian. When translated into Italian cooking, it means a spicy tomato sauce made with garlic, tomatoes and red chili. Think pomodoro (tomato) sauce with a spicy kick...

Tasty Pasta for Kids

Getting kids to eat their vegetables has always been an ongoing battle. I was a living example. I used to detest eating fibrous part of those pesky greens or really any other parts that didn’t resemble the leaves. Those were donkey years ago and now, I can’t live without my greens at every meal. Okay, enough about me...

Crabmeat Chilli Pasta

Chinese New Year is a major holiday for the Chinese. It is the most important festival for us and during this period, indulging in festival food is a MUST for many of us. But as Shakespeare’s wrote: “Too much of a good thing...”.

Mushroom and Sundried Tomato Fettuccine

This is yet another of my “lazy one-person meal” to make when I’m home alone. Now, even though the term “lazy one-person meal” sounds boring, the taste is far from it. Three words – tasty, umami, addictive. In fact, it is one pasta dish I could eat everyday! (Ok, maybe a bit exaggerating but you get the drift.)...

Mushroom Risotto

This is one of the very first risotto dish I've learned 13 years ago. Risotto is a north Italian rice dish cooked in broth to a creamy consistency. Properly cooked risotto is rich and creamy but still with some resistance or bite: al dente, and with separate grains. There are many variations of risotto - chicken, seafood, asparagus, etc. But mushroom is my top favorite.
