Jjambbong is a hybrid noodle dish having roots in Chinese cuisine and being adapted from Korean cuisine. Originally from North-East China, this noodle dish arrived in Korea with the arrival of Chinese immigrants since the 1800s, mostly from Shandong. It was then adapted to suit Korean palates, and to use Korean ingredients as a substitute to Chinese ones.

This Thai-Style Crispy Pork Belly is another mouth-watering favorite snack whenever I wander around the streets in Bangkok. Now, the mere thought of deep frying is enough to put off many health Nazis, not to mention the choice of cut used as well. However, since pork fat has made it to number 8 on the list of top 100 nutritious food and we are using good quality cooking oil, making this dish at home seems to lessen my guilt on eating this intensely crispy and meltingly tender meat. Of course, in a healthy diet, all foods are okay in moderation. Pair it with a serving of refreshing salad or vegetables that are low in calories and all will be well.

If you are not familiar with Som Tam, it is a staple item in every Thai restaurants’ menu. “Som” means sour and “Tam” refers to the method that is used to make this salad. Typically the dish uses green papaya, but green mango is a pretty popular choice here too. When I came across some green mangoes at the Thai Supermarket at Golden Mile Complex, I immediately grabbed half a dozen and came home immediately to make this Green Mango Salad. Oh, I also picked up this bag of Thai pickling garlic. They are smaller than normal garlic and the flavor is milder, which is usually used for Thai salads. You could substitute with any other garlic too...

Besides their affordable furniture and home furnishing, IKEA Singapore is also well known for their great range of meals and snacks. In fact, their Swedish Meatballs and Fried Chicken Wings are the most popular items to order. *Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored post. Ever since I posted my Better-than-Ikea Swedish Meatballs last year, I’ve been wanting to recreate my own copycat version of IKEA Chicken Wings. After two rounds of kitchen testing, I think this is it. Actually, my test testers think these wings are better than IKEA’s...
