Air fry cooking needs no introduction and if you’re like me, always looking for new ways to make easy, healthy and delicious food, then this recipe is for you.
Initially, I was skeptical and hesitant in using air fryers. After all, I had gone without it for so long and using “air” to cook food? I was so not convinced the end product will taste good. Two years later, I’m absolutely enamored with air fryers.
Like all beginners, I tried making frozen French fries with it. I pop them into the air fryer and after 8 mins, I was rewarded with crispy fries that were pretty good, consider no oil was added. I went on to experiment other things like chicken wings, vegetables, breaded food, spring rolls, etc and the results were amazing.
This Easy Air-Fry Honey Garlic Chicken recipe is one of our family favorites and this marinate is my multi-purpose seasoning I used frequently on my proteins. Besides drumsticks, you could also use chicken thighs, wings or even bone-in chicken breasts.
Ingredients:
6 large chicken drumsticks
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tsp oyster sauce
2 tsp sugar
1 tbsp honey
Juice from 1 large lime (substitute with half lemon if unavailable)
1 tbsp corn starch
Black pepper to taste
Serves 3 to 4
I’m using Hormone-free chicken drumsticks.
Rinse the chicken and pat dry with paper towel.
Using a sharp knife, make a couple of slits on the chicken so that the marinade will penetrate deeper into the meat.
Add all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl and mix well.
Place chicken drumsticks into the bowl and coat them evenly with the marinade.
Transfer into a large Ziploc bag and leave it in the fridge for 6 hours or overnight.
Bring the drumsticks to room temperature for about 30 mins.
Pre-heat your air fryer at 180°C for 2 mins.
Place drumsticks into the air fryer basket, leaving about 2 inches apart from each other.
Do not overcrowd the air fryer. Do in it several batches if necessary.
Cook for about 12 to 14 mins, flipping them halfway through.
Serve warm.
