Chocolate Layer Cake with Caramel Ganache

Truth be told, when I first came across this Chocolate Layer Cake with Caramel Ganache in Rose’s Heavenly Cakes by cake goddess Rose Levy Beranbaum, I skimmed past the recipe and did not even bother to attempt it. Perhaps it was the lack of an illustration of the cake or maybe the daunting 3-page instructions, whatever the case was, I’m glad I finally rolled up my sleeves and did it. The end result is worth the 2 days effort...

Double Chocolate Banana Cake

Banana cake is one of my favorite cakes I would make over and over again, it’s almost an obsession. Over the last couple of years, I’ve experimented with a few different hybrid from the original recipe and this Double Chocolate Banana Cake is the latest addition. Fudgy, moist and loaded with chocolatey flavor, they are incredibly easy to make and guarantee to satisfy any serious chocolate cravings you might have...

Back-to-Basics Dark Chocolate Pound Cake

As much as I love whipping up a storm in the kitchen (minus the cleaning part), there are days when I just want to make something simple with a few handy ingredients and still taste incredibly delicious. Today is the day. Other than my all-time favorite chocolate sheet cake which is by far the most popular and easiest dessert, this Back-to-Basics Dark Chocolate Pound Cake might actually give a run for its money. If you don’t have a lot of time but crave for an amazing cake, this would be the recipe...

Double Chocolate Pavlova with Mascarpone Cream

This Double Chocolate Pavlova with Mascarpone Cream is made with one of my favorite girlfriends in mind. She is a huge fan of chocolate, meringue and also gluten-intolerant. Action speaks louder than words, I actually made this for her birthday (few weeks back) and hand delivered it right to her door. And yes, it lasted the 25-min journey and kept well in the fridge even till the next day...

Be My Valentine Dark Chocolate Cookies

This "Be My Valentine Dark Chocolate Cookies" is in fact an Oreo cookie recipe. To be honest, I think they tasted better than the real Oreo cookies (sorry Nabisco, no offense). I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to make them too. The sweetness level of vanilla filling contrasted perfectly with the mildl flavored chocolate cookie so it is absolutely not necessary to reduce any sugar...

Dark Chocolate Roulade with Roasted Strawberry Mousse

The name of the recipe post “Dark Chocolate Roulade with Roasted Strawberry Mousse” might sound all fancy and stuff but do not be intimated. It is really an easy-to make flour-less sponge chocolate roll filled with (lots of) light wondrous whipped cream and roasted strawberries. I decided to use a flour-less recipe for the cake as I prefer it to be lighter side and also for anyone who is looking for a gluten-free dessert recipe. Since Christmas is around the corner, this would make a wonderful dessert and centerpiece at lunch or dinner. A homemade cake just brings special joy to the holidays. The cake would not be completed without blanketing it with a layer of decadent dark chocolate fudge all over and to create that Yule Log effect, I used a fork to give it the signature peeling bark look...

Best Ever Chocolate Fudge Brownies

I can’t believe this post never made it out sooner. I think this is one of those recipes I reckon is so common I didn’t think anyone would be interested. Until now. Besides my Easy Banana Chocolate Sheet Cake, these Best Ever Chocolate Fudge Brownies is the other most requested pot-luck dessert from hosts of dinner parties I’ve attended/will be attending soon to bring along. Even for those parties I was not invited to. (kidding, it was for my mom-in-law’s gatherings and I have no intention to gate crash any of them, hee hee).

Banana Bread Cookies

Even though they are called Banana Bread Cookies (mainly because of the shape), the texture are super fluffy, moist and almost cake-like. Thanks to the use of the super ripe banana, they smelled and tasted 99% like banana bread. I can’t help but to open the cookie jar every now and then to get a whiff of that addictive aroma.

Salted Chocolate Brownie Cookies

If you have made my Outrageous Chocolate Cookies or Red velvet Chocolate Chips Cookies (hope you enjoyed them as much as I did!), you should know my immense love for soft and chewy cookies. Not to mention chocolatey. The craze for adding salt to desserts has been going on for quite some time (salted caramel being the top favorite combination). Since Tiger and meh-bear are salted dessert junkies, I decided to jump into the bandwagon and make these salted chocolate brownie cookies for them...

Foolproof French Chocolate Macarons

I’m not going lie. I SUCKED at making Macarons. My first few attempts were total disaster - “Footless” macarons, dome cracked top macarons, and completely hollow macarons. At one point, I was so dejected and convinced that the Baking Goddess had condemned me from making perfect macarons and I should just give up...

11 Essential Rules to Making Perfect Macarons

Having encountered numerous painful failed Macaron baking attempts, i.e. “Footless” macarons, dome cracked top macarons, hollow macarons, etc, I've come to realize there are indeed some "rules" to follow which they don't really mention in most recipes...

Easy Banana Chocolate Sheet Cake

A lot of readers have asked me: “What is a perfect cake to bring to a party?” The answer is in this recipe. Chocolate is really one of the universal sweet that almost everyone will go goo-goo gah gah over with. The thing about bringing food to parties is they have to survive for at least a few hours at room temperature environment and still taste good. Therefore, I highly recommend this Easy Banana Chocolate Sheet Cake. Did I mention it is so easy to put together as well?...

Flourless Chocolate Cake

Hooray for all gluten-intolerant chocolate cake fans! Today’s recipe is all about chocolate. NO flour allowed. This is a rich and decadent chocolate cake but yet light and fluffy at the same time. Think soufflé – in the form of a cake. Heck, perhaps I should've just called it Chocolate Soufflé Cake! The original recipe calls for 4 ingredients but I added in a pinch of salt to elevate the chocolatey goodness. Sneaky, right?...

Almost Famous Amos Cookies

I’m a Famous Amos cookie junkie. Especially the no-nut chocolate chip version. That way, I could enjoy the sweet, chocolatey, buttery goodness in every bite. While it is tempting to “up-size” the purchase (100 g free for every 300 g purchased), I was disciplined enough to buy no more than 100 g each time...

Red Velvet Chocolate Chip Cookies

Mention any red velvet dessert and everyone would go “ooh “ and “ahh” over it, especially with the ladies. The color red usually represents passion, desire, romance and love, which pretty much checks every box of what we (women) fantasize in a relationship. What better way than to translate it through desserts, right?...

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream

May I confess? Prior to making this sinfully delicious icy treat, I’ve never eaten Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream before. Chocolate chip in ice cream I get it, but uncooked cookie dough? I’ve heard and seen of it but was just not compelled to try it. Perhaps, I’ve finally outgrown the inner child in me?? Gosh, I hope not...

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

Since the banana cake is such a hit in our household and I've lost track of how many times I made it, I felt I needed to switch things around before anyone gets sick of it. How else could I create this moist and decadent goodness into other varieties? Quick check with google and muffin came up to be on top of the list. To be honest, I’m not a big fan on muffins. They tend to be dense, buttery and I don’t know, just not my type of “cake”. When I made a test batch of these banana chocolate chip muffins, I wasn’t too hopeful...
